Kitty Cleveland

“Kitty’s talk was fantastic!  Each of our Legatus response cards had “EXCELLENT” on the speaker portion—does not happen very often!  Everyone at the Legatus dinner enjoyed hearing her story and her beautiful singing--what a treat! I’m sure she’ll be a regular on the Legatus “speaking trail” from now on.   ~Cookie R., Madisonville, LA
“I loved Kitty’s concert.  I have several of her CD's had to get the latest one!  I've recommended her music to others and given her CD's as gifts.  When my late husband was struggling with a malignant brain tumor, her music was often playing.  He cried when hearing "Surrender."  Mary L., Durango, CO

“My entire life I have never been a weepy person, but Kitty’s voice is so beautiful, the songs and prayers so thought- provoking… that when I hear her sing I could cry a river.  God has blessed her to such an extent--with her voice, her looks, her faith, her education, her abilities, her family and her beliefs--I don't know what else is left.  I now know how the Angelic Choir will sound when we get to Heaven.”  Nancy U., Mandeville, LA

New Orleans native Kitty Cleveland, an inspirational speaker and award-winning singer, songwriter and actress, has been delighting audiences around the world for over 25 years. Music for her is a passion, especially music that glorifies God and elevates the audience to prayer.  Her voice, which has a three-octave range, has frequently been likened to a cello: rich, emotive, passionate and lyrical.

Though she put her singing on hold after college to pursue careers as a lawyer, university instructor and career counselor, Kitty’s life as a professional singer began in earnest after launching her first CD in 2000.  She has since appeared in concert and as a keynote speaker throughout the United States, in Europe and in Canada. Her versatility has allowed her to sing for the U.S. bishops in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome; for U.S. Senators in Washington, DC; with the New Orleans Opera and Tulane Summer Lyric Theater; and even sing back-up vocals for celebrated soprano Sarah Brightman.  She was recently selected as a final nominee for the 2008 “Artist of the Year” Unity Award.

Thousands of people have also heard her stirring testimony, which she delivers with humor, grace and not a little heartache.  The real drama of the story involves the wrongful imprisonment of her father, Carl Cleveland—a successful lawyer and Catholic deacon—and his later dramatic release by the U.S. Supreme Court (his story is detailed in the book Amazing Grace for Those Who Suffer, Ascension Press).   It was his suffering which inspired the song “Surrender” and then launched her new music ministry.  Kitty’s testimony will soon be heard on EWTN Radio’s new program Magnificat Proclaims.
Television and Radio Credits

Kitty appeared five times as a guest on EWTN’s Life on the Rock television series with Jeff Cavins, which reaches over 100 million households worldwide, as well as EWTN’s Backstage television series.  She has also appeared on Boston Catholic Television, has had numerous appearances on New Orleans television, and continues to receive both national and international radio airplay.
