"Catholic Singer"

Travels from: Providence, RI

When Ryan Tremblay starts singing, or picks up a guitar, or gets anywhere near a set of drums, people stop and listen. It's been that way since he was a little boy, and now the 24 year-old Sts. John and Paul parishioner has tied his gifts to a powerful purpose: to share his love for the Catholic Church, for Jesus Christ, and for the beauty of creation.

picture_2.pngRyan holds a music degree from Rhode Island College, where his instrument was drums. He earned awards and during his studies was invited to participate in an international competition held in Canada. He won. Still, he felt called to do more, and to be more, and it was a frustrating time. Finally, he followed his heart by starting over, and learning how to sing and play guitar and write for his own voice. And now his dream has come true with the release of his first CD, "My Life with You.”

The inspirational musical collection is a collaboration with Todd Urbonas, Ryan's producer and Grammy™-nominated co-writer. Their songs reflect a depth that's come from years of working together. Ryan also takes the time to perform a beautiful song he wrote with his father celebrated singer and entertainer Robert Tremblay.

“This first collection of songs is a testimony of my journey back to the Lord...after an absence of not practicing my faith,” Tremblay began, adding that he stopped attending Mass while in college. Eventually, an aunt (who is in fact a Carmelite sister) recommended he read “Rome Sweet Home” by Scott and Kimberly Hahn. And that did it. Crediting that book for his re-awakening, Ryan returned to the church, documenting his personal journey in song.

“When I finally decided to become a devout, practicing Catholic, I went to confession for the first time since I was in high school,” he added. “There was a lot of prayer, a lot of fear, and a lot more prayer...and then, one day, the songs just began to flow,” Ryan recalls, smiling, adding "they're still flowing."

“Our music is one part witness and one part invitation to anyone who wants to listen. We laugh often, we take great joy in what we do, and we strive to create an atmosphere where everyone in the room, including us, can remember to leave a little space in our lives for God’s grace to once again flood over us. That's the goal for every performance.”

“It’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” Ryan Trembay

Ryan’s Testimony:

Not too long ago, I felt as though I didn’t need to attend church any longer.  It was a meaningless pursuit to someone who was ready to take on the world in just a few months…or so I thought.

As I entered college after graduating from high school, I suddenly felt lost.  I felt that my identity had been taken away and I was very confused.  I searched for the meaning in my life but it wasn’t on campus.  I took classes, I did my homework, but I couldn’t find the answers to the questions I had.

It wasn’t until my fourth year of college that I returned to the church that I belong to (Saints John and Paul).  It was here that I found the forgiveness, purpose, and meaning in my life that I had longed for.  Through my commitment to the sacraments and the resources found outside of the church (Rome Sweet Home, CatholicAnswers.com, PureLoveClub.com, CatholicSingles.com, Theology of the Body), I started to become the person who I wanted to be.  My life now is about serving God and sharing my journey with His people in hopes to inspire a generation to come.
