As the first and only Asian Miss America in the pageant's 91-year history, Angela Baraquio Grey, Miss Hawaii 2000/Miss America 2001, championed the cause of Character Education.

Angela's background is in Elementary Education, and she holds a Master's degree in Educational Administration.  She is the founder of the Angela Perez Baraquio Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and is a credentialed teacher in both Hawaii and California.  Angela has been an elementary classroom teacher in Catholic schools for five years, and is a staunch supporter of Catholic Education. From 2006-2008 she served as one of 25 high profile Presidential appointees to President George W. Bush's President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Angela currently resides in Southern California with her husband, Tinifuloa, and her three sons, Isaiah, Micah, and Jonah.  She is expecting her fourth child and first baby girl on Dec. 27, 2012.  The couple owns a Polynesian entertainment company together and celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in June 2012.  Angela continues to speak professionally at local and national events, and has been asked to do a documentary on her life story. 

Angela is a co-host on the Telly award-winning Hawaii-based TV show, "Living Local with the Baraquios".
