"Founder, The Catholic Report"
Travels from: Columbus, Ohio
In
2001, by the age of 37, Dave Hartline had already seen the gamut in the
Catholic world. He quickly moved up the ranks in the Diocese of
Columbus by holding positions as a teacher, coach, principal and
diocesan administrator in the Superintendent of Schools office.
In addition to his work for the Church, Hartline also worked on Capitol Hill after earning his master’s degree. The experience on Capitol Hill helped Hartline to understand what some of the “powers that be” thought about the Church.
In late summer of 2005, Hartline founded the Catholic Report, a daily online journal that provides up to the minute Catholic news as well as links to other Catholic sites. Hartline also writes articles that have been featured on many Catholic websites and journals including the National Catholic Register, Catholic Exchange, The Catholic Times and Rome’s Zenit News.
In December of 2006 his book, The Tide Is Turning Toward Catholicism was released. This good news book about the Church was released one year after Hartline wrote an article of the same name that was picked up by many Catholic websites. The idea for the article came to Hartline while in Eucharistic Adoration. The book describes, with a great deal of supporting data, the turn towards orthodoxy in the Church. Where the teachings of the Church are preached without apologies, the Church is growing. Vocations are up around the world and dramatically so in some areas.
Although this was Dave Hartline’s first book, it didn’t prevent Catholic clergy, Tom Monaghan, Dick Vitale, Gerry Faust and Tim Drake among others from endorsing the book after reading the manuscript.
Former Notre Dame football coach Gerry Faust called it, “One of the finest books on Catholicism, I have ever read.”
Tom Monaghan said, “It is a highly readable book and an antidote to the doom and gloom.” Former Notre Dame football coach Gerry Faust called it, “One of the finest books on Catholicism, I have ever read.”
Noted Catholic writer Tim Drake said, “Hartline has his finger on the pulse of the Church.”
Bishop Robert Kurtz CR (Bermuda) said, “David Hartline’s work has the power to move some of the clouds away from our faith. David Hartline provides us with an encouraging word and shows us that the Spirit of the Lord is alive in the Church and growing into what Pope John Paul II called a “Springtime of Evangelization.”
Catholic
author and speaker Michael Dubruiel said, “Are you tired of all the
doom and gloom being reported about the Church? One has only to think
of the media's surprise at the overwhelming turn out for the funeral of
Pope John Paul a few years ago, or the record breaking crowds that turn
out to hear Pope Benedict XVI's weekly audiences and Angelus
messages--much to the confusion of the popular media to see that not
only is the tide turning as Hartline argues so convincingly but it
threatens to be a tidal wave that will baptize an entire generation of
undercatechized young people with an explosion of faith that would have
seemed inconceivable only five or six years ago. Hartline's book gives
us all, the positive message we've been missing out on.”
Since the release of the book, Hartline has been seen and heard on EWTN, the global Catholic television network, as well as a variety of audiences and national radio programs.
