"Catholic Insider / Daily Breakfast Podcast"
Travels from: The Netherlands (Often living in the United States)
Father
Roderick's foray into new media communications began while podcasting from St.
Peter's Basilica during the death of our beloved John Paul II and the
subsequent conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI. His unique audio recordings
and the access granted by his collar provided a special connection to the
events that the global press could not provide.
Fr. Roderick
founded the Star Quest Production Network with the mission of presenting the
best in Catholic podcasting. He hosts and produces several audio, video and
live streaming podcasts including The Daily Breakfast, The Catholic Insider,
Healthy Catholic, Catholic Minute, Beyond the Movies, Santa Cucína, The Secrets
of Star Wars, The Secrets of Harry Potter, The Secrets of Narnia, The Secrets
of the Lord of the Rings and The Secrets of the Pirates of the Caribbean. More than 100,000 SQPN shows are downloaded
every month by Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
In 2005, Fr.
Roderick helped Vatican Radio 105 Live establish their podcasts. In 2005 and
2006, SQPN won four Podcast Awards in Ontario,
California, including Best
General Podcast, Best Religious Podcast and Best Soundseeing Podcast. In 2007,
SQPN won three more Podcast Awards after receiving a whopping eight nominations
in religious and secular categories.
Fr. Roderick is
regularly sought by the international press and cable news and entertainment
shows for his opinions on popular topics. Last year, Fr. Roderick played himself
on the Dutch reality show, That'll Teach
Them, and his podcast recently appeared in the humorous and popular
"Klooster" TV commercial for Appoint Professionals. He is currently
working on the Wat Nu project for
Dutch television.
In addition to
all his podcasting activities, Fr. Roderick maintains pastoral duties at four
parishes in his hometown, Amersfoort,
in the Diocese of Utrecht, The Netherlands. He is fluent in several languages:
Dutch, French, English, Italian, German and Latin. Father Roderick was also named one of seven
leaders in Catholic New Media by Steubenville
University in 2007.
