"Best Selling Author"
Travels from: Minneapolis, MN
Jeff Cavins is recognized nationally and internationally as a dynamic Catholic Bible teacher who can take complex theological concepts and make them practical for everyone. Highly sought-after to teach Scripture around the country, he zealously communicates his deep love of Christ, his passion for the Word of God and his devotion to the Catholic Church with clarity and enthusiasm.
In Pursuit of Truth
Jeff's story is one of "rebellion" and homecoming. This prodigal son rebelled against his father and his Catholic faith, and went on to serve as a Protestant pastor for 12 years. Then, after a series of providential events, he returned home and became one of the Catholic Church's most well-known and effective Bible-teachers and TV personalities.
Jeff is founding host of EWTN’s Life on the Rock and his conversion story is found in the best-selling book, My Life on the Rock: A Rebel Returns to the Catholic Faith. He is also co-editor of the Amazing Grace series of books, including Amazing Grace for Those Who Suffer, Amazing Grace for the Catholic Heart, Amazing Grace for Married Couples and his latest book, Amazing Grace for Families.
The Big Picture
Over the past several years, Jeff has dedicated his life to developing The Great Adventure Bible Studies, an extremely useful, practical and color coded interactive Bible study system. This system enables students to understand the chronological flow of Scripture, following salvation history. To date, more than 2,200 Great Adventure studies have been conducted helping hundreds of thousands of Catholics and other Christians learn Sacred Scripture in a practical way.
The Great Adventure follows the principles prescribed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Dei Verbum. It takes the canonical approach to studying the Bible by focusing on the final form of the biblical texts, attending to the content and unity of Scripture. Having established this "big picture" as a starting point, it uses the historical background and an appreciation of cultural influences and literary genres to illuminate the texts. Through all of this, the study series is changing lives by encouraging Catholics to get to know God through Scripture and to study, celebrate, and live out His Word within the living Tradition of the Catholic Church.
Jeff is currently the Director of the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute based in St. Paul, Minnesota. He teaches live Bible studies to over 2,000 students in the Twin Cities area, and travels the country bringing The Great Adventure to parishes in the form of a seminar. These live seminars lay a firm foundation for people at all aspects of their journey to begin a lifetime of fruitful Bible Study.
