Talk Topics:

-Our Friend Faustina: Lessons of Mercy for a Woman’s Life: nurtures the hearts of women with this gentle introduction to the life and spirituality of St. Faustina Kowalska, Pope John Paul II’s “Apostle of Mercy.” Combining classic Catholic spirituality with our personal experiences, this talk shows busy women how to receive and respond to Divine Mercy in their own lives, and to pass it on to others through word, deed, and prayer. With heartwarming stories and practical advice, this talk reveals that mercy is not just a gift to be grasped in the confessional, but a spiritual resource that strengthens us when we extend ourselves for the benefit of others.   This talk introduces readers to the history of the Divine Mercy devotion, explains five distinctive features of this devotion, reveals mercy as a gift to be shared in word, deed, and prayer, explores Divine Mercy in the practice of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy and celebrates the role of Mary, Mother of Mercy.

-The Friendship Project: Deepening and Developing our Relationships: In The Friendship Project talk, Michele and Emily explore the cardinal and theological virtues with an eye toward friendship. Focusing on faith, hope, love, prudence, gratitude, loyalty, generosity, and prayerfulness, they help us answer questions such as, “What does it mean to be women of hope, and how does that change our lives and make us more compassionate friends during difficult times?” and “How does prayerfulness teach us how to listen to and talk with both God and our friends, which helps us reach out to those we love?”  Michele and Emily answer these questions and more by employing Church teaching and telling us stories of their own friendships and those from the lives of saints and biblical women—including the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Elizabeth, St. Thérèse of Lisieux and her sister Servant of God Léonie, and Sts. Perpetua and Felicity. Not only will you be drawn closer to friends both new and old but you’ll also be reminded how these friendships—and the virtues you practice to nurture them—draw you closer to God.

Pray Fully: Simple Steps to becoming a Woman of Prayer: Do you listen to others pray out loud, spontaneously and naturally, and wish you could do that, too? Are you embarrassed to admit that your family prayers consist of a garbled “Bless Us, Oh Lord” at dinner and a quick “Our Father” while tucking the kids into bed? Do you find your mind wandering when you do try to pray?

If so, you are not alone!

In this talk on prayer basics, Michele Faehnle and Emily Jaminet share the joys and struggles of their own prayer journeys. They also include advice from the saints and offer encouraging examples of women just like you who, as they stepped out in faith, found that God not only answered their prayers, but drew them into a lifechanging friendship as well.
